May the Fourth is kicking it off strong and early in Singapore with fan-led festivities at the ArtScience Museum for all to experience the Force.
Held for two days (1 and 2 May 2021), the event is filled with activities and displays for Star Wars fans to enjoy and admire together. Although admission is free, due to the global pandemic, those interested in coming down to the museum would have to pre-book their slots.
If you’ve been hardworking, be sure to make full use of the reservation slot as it’s been fully booked out on the first day.
By some chance you aren’t able to head down, we got you covered. Here are the sights we came across at Singapore’s Star Wars Day 2021 at the ArtScience Museum:
Have your photos taken with your favourite Star Wars characters with the 501st Legion Singapore Garrison, Cathar Base Singapura – Rebel Legion and Kranak Clan – Mandalorian Mercs Singapore suited up in their best costumes. Located at Oculus at the first level of the museum, the photo opportunity with the cosplayers are by time slots, so if you are going down to take pictures, do be aware of the timings.
Furthermore, you may even encounter fans who are cosplaying and showing support to the franchise as well such as Darth Vader and R2-D2. This is a good chance to mingle with people who are strong with the Force but do take note that as the COVID-19 cases are increasing once again, do heed to the safe distancing measures and the ambassadors at the location.
If you’re looking for a sign to grow your own Star Wars collectibles, this next room might just be it. The Star Wars Toys Display features Star Wars toys produced all the way back from 1977 to now. Presented by Singapore Star Wars Collecting Fan Club and Suhaimi’s Gulliver’s Chronicles, the Rainbow Room at the second level of the museum showcases 29 vintage items along with 130 modern items for fans to admire.
With such careful and nimble hands, those coming down to visit the museum will be in awe of the placements of figures that will remind you of what a masterpiece the Star Wars franchise really is.
With all the activities, an area to take it slowly would be the Digital Fan Art Projection located at level four, Curiosity Gallery Wall. The projection features a slideshow of the digital artworks made by Jon Chan and Plastic Singapore.
In addition to the projection, fans may also enjoy film screenings of Star Wars movies as well as documentaries such as the Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope and Empire Dreams: The Story of the Star Wars Trilogy. Demonstration of toy photography by Sunny Ang will also be available for visitors to enter which is happening later today from 4 pm to 5 pm.
Although the booking for 1 May is full, fans may still pre-book their tickets for the activities held on 2 May. Those interested may do so through Marina Bay Sands’ website. For more information about the timings and activities for Star Wars Day at ArtScience Museum, click here.
