Demon Slayer is without a doubt one of the most commercially successful manga and anime series of the recent decade, with its manga being one of the best selling series of all time, with over 100 million copies in circulation by October 2020, and its movie has even shattered box office records, being the fastest film to earn over 10 billion yen in Japan.
Hence it’ll come as no surprise that the popular pocket game Tamagotchi has decided to partner up with Demon Slayer to release a collection featuring the series’ main characters already hit stores, much to the delight of fans.
The collaboration already began earlier this month, with main characters such as Tanjiro and Zenitsu featured on the Tamagotchi devices. Now, a new Pillar collection will be released for the Demon Slayer Tamagotchi, with fans able to grab one of nine new designs, all featuring patterns based on the nine Pillars, elite members of the Demon Slayer Corps.
Preorders for the Fire Pillar Rengoku Kyojuro has already started, with preorders for the other eight Pillars expected to go live on 16 November.
Though each model is designed based on one of the nine Pillars, they are only cosmetically different and the Pillar that you will raise your little demon slayer into is still solely based on how you raise them.
This will involve rigorous training, much like what Tanjiro and gang had to go through in the series, such as rock lifting, meditation, and whole-body workouts. You will also get to slay some demons while raising your little demon slayer, and even catch cameo appearances by the series’ main cast, this includes Tanjiro, Inosuke, and Zenitsu.
These new Pillar Tamagotchis will hit shelves in March 2021 and will cost you 2,530 yen (US$24) though if you want to secure a device for yourself, then be sure to pre-order it beforehand.
