Star Wars Icon Mark Hamill Made A Secret Cameo In Season 1 Of The Mandalorian

While waiting for the second season of Disney+’s The Mandalorian to drop, fans have been treated to a special behind-the-scenes glimpse at the creative process for the series. To our surprise, it was revealed that Mark Hamill himself actually made a secret cameo in the show.

It seems that even after Luke Skywalker single-handedly (all puns intended) defeated the Empire, Mark Hamill still continues to gravitate towards the series, albeit under various guises.

The return of this Jedi was not as the titular character of the original trilogy, but instead, as a droid bartender EV-9D9 at the Mos Eisley Cantina on Tatooine. This happened during the fifth episode of Season 1 in the series.

Moreover, in his tweet, Hamill also revealed that he was much more than a ghostly apparition in the sequels. He thanked Matt Wood for having given him the chance to have voice lines in Rogue One, Solo & the Sequels under the name of Patrick Williams. Some fans even went on to scour the credits for the name.

Moreover, the series itself is full of easter eggs. Eagle-eyed fans have spotted R5-D4; the droid who blew his stack back at Uncle Owen’s moisture farm, in the same scene of episode 5.

Another hilarious find was the IG unit heads behind EV-9D9. These deadly droids were turned into bar equipment, similar to how they were recycled in Oga’s Cantina on Batuu.

Speaking of droids, the pit droids from Star Wars: The Phantom Menace also made their reappearance in this episode. Given that Mando does not trust the droid to work, they end up spending their time playing Sabacc card games instead.

Furthermore, an X-Wing from Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge appeared during the first season. Also, among the Stormtroopers there were actual members of the real-life 501st Legion.

Season 2 of The Mandalorian will premiere on Disney+ in October 2020.
