HoYoverse Reveals Surprise ‘Honkai Star Rail’ And ‘Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works’ Tie-Up

HoYoverse dropped a bombshell with an announcement of a Honkai Star Rail x Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works collaboration ahead of patch 2.4 for Honkai Star Rail.

The news was revealed at the end of the Honkai Star Rail version 2.4 livestream, which aims to give players a glimpse of everything featured in the next update. HoYoverse announced that the Honkai Star Rail x Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works collab is slated to kick off in the third quarter of 2025. This means fans will have to wait approximately a year before diving into this epic crossover. With plenty of time on their hands, HoYoverse is expected to tease bits of information in the upcoming year through special livestreams or announcements.

Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works is an anime series that follows high school student Shirou Emiya, who unwittingly becomes a participant in the Holy Grail War, a secret magical tournament where powerful mages, known as Masters, summon legendary heroes from history and mythology, called Servants, to battle for the ultimate prize — the Holy Grail, which can grant any wish. Partnered with the spirited Saber and joined by the enigmatic Rin Tohsaka and her Servant, Archer, Shirou navigates a dangerous web of alliances and betrayals, uncovering dark secrets about the Grail and the true nature of heroism.

Given HoYoverse’s history with collaborations — including one with Guerilla Games’ Horizon Zero Dawn that introduced Aloy as a playable character in Genshin Impact — it’s likely we’ll see some iconic characters from Unlimited Blade Works make their way into Honkai Star Rail. Additionally, fans may also be able to look forward to limited-time Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works merchandise. Though unconfirmed, the prospect of snagging exclusive crossover items is certainly enticing for dedicated fans of both franchises.

Meanwhile, HoYoverse continues its strong grip on the gaming scene, with its latest action role-playing game, Zenless Zone Zero, crossing 50 million global downloads in its first three days.
