‘Tekken 8’ Boss Responds To Fan Demand For Final Fantasy VII’s Tifa As DLC Character

Like many fighting games, the Tekken series is known for its iconic and beloved characters. Tekken 7, however, broke tradition by introducing guest characters from other media to the roster, and Tekken 8 will continue in the same vein. Well, sort of.

While it’s unclear whether there will be crossover characters this time round, series mainstay Eddy Gordo has been confirmed as the game’s first DLC addition. The rest of the lineup hasn’t been revealed, but fans are clamouring for one particular character to join the list: Tifa Lockhart from Final Fantasy VII.

This comes as no surprise — Tifa’s fighting style involves plenty of fists and kicks, making her an apt fit in the world of Tekken. It’s been long-running request for a while now, and Katsuhiro Harada, the boss of all things Tekken, has finally chimed in with his thoughts on the matter.

“We all know she is attractive and I understand that,” he said on X / Twitter. “But as yet we have not decided anything about guest characters etc.” Good to see that Harada has great taste, at least.

That’s not a hard ‘no’, so there’s still some hope there. After all, Tekken 7 notably featured Noctis from Final Fantasy XV, and pulling in FFVII‘s best girl isn’t a far stretch by comparison.

Eddy, the only DLC character confirmed for Tekken 8 so far, made his debut in Tekken 3. A capoeira specialist, the Brazillian fighter has since appeared in all subsequent entries. More information about the DLC additions will be announced over the coming months, and who knows, maybe Tifa fans might just get their wish.
