‘Until Dawn’ Star Peter Stormare To Reprise Dr. Hill Role For Live-Action Movie

Between its rich storytelling and cinematic prowess, Supermassive Games’ survival horror title Until Dawn offers plenty of content to tap into for its upcoming live-action adaptation. The film has big shoes to fill, but is off to an optimistic start following its initial announcement earlier this year.

The Hollywood Reporter, citing insider reports, reveals that actor Peter Stormare (Fargo, Prison Break) will reprise his role as Dr. Hill from the original game. In it, he portrays a psychiatrist who appears during segments where players have to make decisions that affect how the narrative plays out.

The veteran star is joined by newcomers Maia Mitchell (Teen Beach Movie, The Fosters) and Belmont Cameli (Saved by the Bell, Along for the Ride), whose roles remain under wraps. All three add to a previously-announced roster that includes Ella Rubin, Michael Cimino, Ji-Young Yoo, and Odessa A’Zion.

David F. Sandberg, who last directed Shazam! Fury of the Gods, is helming the Until Dawn movie, with Annabelle: Creation scribe Gary Dauberman writing the script. Not much else has been revealed about the project, and it’s unclear how it will tackle the task of adapting the many branching scenarios for the silver screen.

“I’ve been longing to do horror again after Lights Out and Annabelle: Creation, and this film explores the many great subgenres of horror to create the most terrifying experience possible,” said Sandberg in a statement (via The Hollywood Reporter). “Capturing the essence of the game but with new characters, it serves as a great stand-alone introduction to the world for the newcomer as well as offers something new that the fans of the game will enjoy.”

Originally released in 2015, Until Dawn is an interactive horror game that follows eight young adults who have to survive on Blackwood Mountain when their lives are threatened. All playable characters can live or die, depending on the choices made, with players exploring the environment to find clues that may solve the mystery.
