With excitement growing for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Nintendo is capitalising on the hype with the third and final trailer now out in the wild. While there are certainly plenty of gameplay and story details to glean from it, the real star could actually be the returning Ganondorf, the series’ iconic villain will be back in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, but no one expected him to be so… attractive.
That is, at least, according to the Internet, who just can’t seem to get enough of this particular Ganondorf in his Gerudo form as shown in the newly released artwork. We can see why as well, with that flowing red hair tied up in a man bun, almost heroic pose, and an ensemble that screams coolness.
This is not the first time we have seen Ganondorf in this form, but the version coming in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom definitely appeals to modern sensibilities. The other two times that long-time fans of the series would have seen the villain in a similar form would be in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time in 1997 and Twilight Princess in 2006. For the Super Smash Bros. community, this look could even be the default they recognise the big bad in.
In any case, this early look at Ganondorf in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is exactly that, there will surely be more juicy details to uncover once players get into the game proper on the Nintendo Switch.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom launches on 12 May.
