Warner Bros. Discovery Streaming Service Max Finally Launches In Southeast Asia, Including Singapore, On 19 Nov

On 19 November, Warner Bros. Discovery will expand its streaming service, Max, to seven new markets in Southeast Asia (including Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand), Taiwan, and Hong Kong. The launch signifies a major step in Max’s globalisation, following successful rollouts in the U.S., Latin America, and Europe.

Max combines popular franchises and new originals under one umbrella, providing an extensive catalog that includes award-winning series such as Game of Thrones and Succession, along with Max Originals like the adult animation Creature Commandos, and Dune: Prophecy. Subscribers can look forward to an array of titles including Harry Potter, Friends, The Last of Us, and Warner Bros. recent hits like Dune: Part Two, Twisters, and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.

The Max interface promises ease of use with features like personalised recommendations, seamless search capabilities, and specialised hubs for genres and brands. It allows for the creation of up to five unique user profiles per account, with each profile customisable with favourite characters as avatars. Content suggestions will be tailored to individual viewing habits, and the service includes enhanced parental controls for children’s profiles.

Max plans to offer two subscription tiers — Standard and Ultimate. The Standard plan will include HD streaming on two devices simultaneously and 30 downloadable titles for offline viewing. The Ultimate plan will offer streaming on four devices, support for 4K UHD and Dolby Atmos where available, and 100 downloadable titles. Pricing details are set to be released in the coming weeks and will vary by country and provider. The service is a response to growing consumer demand for diverse and high-quality content accessible on multiple devices.

Max’s broad content offering also extends to family and children’s programming with Cartoon Network and CARTOONITO, featuring favorites like Adventure Time and Teen Titans Go!. Moreover, for the first time, Warner Bros. Discovery’s famous unscripted programming from networks such as Discovery, TLC, HGTV, AFN, and Food Network will be available through Max, highlighting popular shows like Deadliest Catch and Property Brothers.

As part of the launch, existing HBO GO subscribers in Southeast Asia (including Singapore, Taiwan, and Hong Kong will automatically transition to Max, enhancing their current subscriptions with a broader range of content and a new streaming experience. The anticipation for Max is high, and with its comprehensive content lineup and robust functionality, Warner Bros. Discovery looks set to make a significant impact in streaming across Asia.
