Amazon Prime Video has revealed that its popular series Reacher has been renewed for season 4, signalling strong confidence in the franchise well before the season 3 premiere slated for 2025. Led by Alan Ritchson (The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare), the series is based on Lee Child’s bestselling novels featuring the enigmatic ex-military policeman Jack Reacher. The renewal announcement arrives months before the third season’s release, continuing the trend of early renewals for the show (season 3 was similarly confirmed before the premiere of season 2).
Reacher has captivated audiences with its intense action sequences and complex storytelling, making it one of Prime Video’s most-watched programmes. Season 2, which debuted in December 2023, was the platform’s most-viewed release that year.
Season 1 adapted Child’s debut novel, Killing Floor. The show introduced viewers to Jack Reacher, who arrives in the small town of Margrave, Georgia, only to find himself accused of a murder linked to a larger conspiracy. Season 2, which adapted the eleventh book, Bad Luck and Trouble, continued to unravel the high-stakes adventures of Reacher and was released in a weekly format from December 2023 to January 2024.
The upcoming third season, scheduled to premiere in 2025, is set to adapt Persuader, the seventh book in Child’s series, which follows Reacher as he goes undercover in Maine to rescue an informant from a formidable foe from his past. Production for the third season kicked off before the second season’s premiere and concluded by mid-2024.
Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios, expressed enthusiasm for the series’ performance, stating, “Reacher has become a phenomenon that continues to resonate with our global customers beyond our wildest expectations and we are thrilled to bring the series back for an additional season. We are looking forward to more action and adventure from the immensely talented team behind the series including [showrunner] Nick Santora, Alan Ritchson, Lee Child, Skydance, and CBS Studios.”
The cast for season 3 includes returning stars and new faces such as Anthony Michael Hall (The Breakfast Club), Sonya Cassidy (The Tudors), Brian Tee (Chicago Med), Johnny Berchtold (The Passenger), Roberto Montesinos (Bosch), Daniel David Stewart (Catch-22), and Olivier Richters (Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny). Maria Sten (Swamp Thing), known for her role as Frances Neagley in the first two seasons, will appear again and is also set to lead a spin-off series centered around her character.
While details about the plot of season 4 remain undisclosed, the consistent early renewals and robust casting suggest a continuation of the gritty narrative and gripping action that have defined the series. Showrunner Nick Santora, along with a team including Ritchson and Child, continues to helm the project, promising more action-packed storytelling from the Reacher universe.
