Bollywood Star Shah Rukh Khan Keen To Play A Bond Villain

Since the conclusion of the current James Bond films with No Time To Die, speculation has been abuzz with who the next 007 replacing Daniel Craig will be. The franchise is long due for a reboot, and there’s another question that needs to be answered — who will be the next shadowy antagonist?

Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan has expressed interest in becoming the next Bond villain, saying, “Baddie, yes, of course. I’m brown enough,” in response to a question on whether he’d be interested in playing an antagonist in the next James Bond film.

Khan has appeared in more than 90 Bollywood films, but has yet to play any prominent roles in Hollywood films. The actor was previously offered the role of devious show host in Slumdog Millionaire, but turned down the role, stating that “the character was cheating and being dishonest as the host.”

Though, Bond villains have been known for being pretty intense, and cheating and being dishonest is the norm, so Shah Rukh Khan might have to step outside his comfort zone if he takes on such a role. Details on the next Bond movie, codenamed Bond 26, are under wraps, and the search for a replacement or an official announcement might take a long while.

“He’s a person who has been through the wars, so to speak. He’s probably been in the SAS or something. He isn’t some kid out of high school that you can bring in and start off. That’s why it works for a 30-something,” said producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson on the search for the next James Bond two years ago. “We can’t come up with one until we decide how we’re going to approach the next film because, really, it’s a reinvention of Bond. We’re reinventing who he is and that takes time.”
