The Hunger Games’ Tom Blyth & Talk To Me’s Sophie Wilde Hack Into ‘Watch Dogs’ Live-Action Film

Ubisoft and New Regency are set to bring the Watch Dogs video game series to life with a live-action film, starring Tom Blyth and Sophie Wilde, Deadline reports. Directed by French filmmaker Mathieu Turi (The Deep Dark, Meander), the film is expected to delve into the game’s complex world of high-tech vigilantism.

Tom Blyth, recognised for his role in the Hunger Games prequel, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, and Sophie Wilde, known for Talk to Me, have been confirmed as the leads in this anticipated adaptation. The project marks a significant step in Blyth’s rising career, following his notable portrayal of a young Coriolanus Snow, which positioned him as a promising talent in Hollywood.

Christie LeBlanc penned the original script, with Victoria Bata recently revising it. The production will be overseen by New Regency’s CEO Yariv Milchan and President of Motion Pictures and Television Natalie Lehmann, with Margaret Boykin from Ubisoft Film and Television also producing.

The announcement builds on the growing trend of video game adaptations, with Watch Dogs providing a rich narrative about cyber vigilantes. Since its debut over a decade ago, the franchise has expanded to include sequels set in different cities, each introducing new characters united by common themes of revenge and justice. The film could potentially adapt the story of Aiden Pearce, the protagonist of the original game, who seeks vengeance for family tragedy, a plotline that could see Wilde playing hacker Clara Lille, his ally against corporate corruption.

While video game adaptations like Uncharted and Monster Hunter have had mixed reviews, the relatively realistic setting of Watch Dogs offers a potentially smoother transition to film. With Blyth and Wilde’s burgeoning careers, their casting could bring a fresh dynamism to the beloved characters of the game series.

No release date has been set for the Watch Dogs movie as of yet.
