Geek Review: Arcwave Voy

Self-pleasure should always come associated with two words – custom fit. The world of sex toys is one where there are more pleasure devices made for women, then for men and the reason is simple – guys only need porn, or lotion and a sock. The Arcwave Voy is the latest from the WOW Tech Group house of brands, the global industry leader in pleasure innovation, that doesn’t try to fix something that isn’t broken, but enhances it with a literal one-size fits all approach.

If you have a bigger budget and prefer a device that requires less manual work, there is the chunkier and battery-powered Arcwave Ion that was released last year.

Arcwave Voy

The Arcwave Voy is essentially a penis stroker, meant to simulate the chamber in which the male organ slides back and forth, before the money shot. Unlike the Fleshlight or other similar tools that are gender-specific, the Arcwave Voy is pretty nondescript, and also offers the advantage of a custom fit.

Designed in the form of a camera lens on a DSLR camera, the Arcwave Voy is essentially a cup size tool with removable caps on both ends, which when removed, reveals the silicon chamber within. The plastic frame of the Arcwave Voy contains an adjustable ring mechanism that, when activated, tightens the chamber. Since the chamber is made of silicon, the level of tightness isn’t so much a clamp, but more of an additional pressure placed on your penis, as you slide it back and forth.

In essence, it’s a perfect gift for any guy as there’s no need to know their size, length or girth as its adjustment capabilities, which allow users to select from eight levels of increasing tightness, which should apply and fit just about anyone. Since it’s a tube, one opening is also smaller than the other. The smaller end, which is about 2.5cm in diameter, is meant for normal-sized penises, while those who are larger can opt for the other end, which is about 3.5cm wide. As the edges are made of silicon, its opening can get larger, and that’s where the adjustment rings allow for the personalisation of tightness that is unique to each guy.

As mentioned, the design of the Arcwave Voy is gender-neutral, making it perfect for straight or gay men, and anyone in between. Since it has two openings, those of exceptional length won’t have to worry about hitting resistance at the end, and the length of the device is capable of providing maximum sensation wherever your preferred pleasure spot is.

Ridges within the internal chamber are meant to simulate any orifice, including creating multiple sensations, of say, both a tongue and lips, that well, the hand and sock are unable to replicate. Once the adjustments are made, you can see the additional ridges that appear, thereby preserving some level of difference each time you use it, instead of offering the same uniform sensation.

And though it works well on its own, it also allows you to explore more pleasure options, for those who haven’t done so. While it’s silicon, and provides a realistic feel to the touch, it was not made to work without lubricant, and water doesn’t cut it. Since it’s made of silicon, it requires the use of a water-based lubricant, to protect the material, so you probably should not depend on your current stash of oil-based lubricants for defining your new modes of pleasure. The packing comes with a small sample of water-based lubricant, but regardless of your frequency of use, we recommend getting an additional regular size container.

The one drawback that might crop up though, is the dimensions of the Arcwave Voy, because here, size does matter. The unit is roughly 10cm long, by 8.5 cm wide and this includes the plastic frame in the middle that acts as the handle, and the adjustment chamber. Even when the caps on both ends are removed, it still weighs north of about 300g, and if you’re the type who prefers stroking for longer periods for stronger climaxes, well, try flexing your wrist holding a 300g weight – it will get sore after a while.

Cleaning the device after every use is a breeze. For simple washes, simply use soap and a soft cleaning tool to rub the internals from both openings. The entire silicon chamber is also removable from the plastic frame, for when you want to clean it more thoroughly. You can’t pat it dry with a cloth, but by placing one of the caps back on, the device can sit indiscriminately on your dresser or bathroom cabinet to dry, without drawing attention.

A few tips before you use the Arcwave Voy – it’s recommended that you pre-select the right adjustment for the unit before sliding your penis in, as opposed to tightening or loosening it while it is already in use. For one thing, the ring adjustment is a tight one, and if your hands and tool are properly lubricated, getting a proper grip to make adjustments isn’t as simple as it sounds. For those of you thinking that keeping a cap on with the unused opening might also serve as a receptacle for the eventual fluids that might spill out, we know it’s tempting but where’s the fun in that?

Also, silicon is cold to the touch, so if you want to enhance the experience, running the silicon chamber with warm water, before adding lubricant on the device and on your body, creates a more natural sensation.

At US$99, the Arcwave Voy is probably priced higher than other non-electrical pleasure devices, but it works effectively, and makes for a nice gift for any man.
