Gong Xi Fa Cai! From 13 January to 5 February 2023, Universal Studios Singapore will be bringing back all the Lunar New Year festive fun to the beloved park and ring in the Year of the Rabbit with fan-favourite characters, themed food, dragon dance and more!
Kicking off your visit to the park is a free ang bao! From 22 to 30 January 2023, lucky guests can receive a lucky red packet filled with exciting goodies such as Universal Express passes, retail or food vouchers, plushies and more – while stocks last! Guests can also get their hands on exclusive merchandise featuring the Minions dressed up as their favourite Chinese Zodiac animals too!
Speaking of the Minions, character meet and greets are a staple when visiting Universal Studios Singapore and whilst they may not be at the top of your priority list when you’re busy queuing for rides or attempting to get a snack and beat the lunch crowd, it is truly an experience not to be missed. This is especially since all your favourite characters will be decked out in festive costumes that are oh-so-adorable!
Meet the Sesame Street gang at the steps of the New York Public Library, huat with Kung Fu Panda‘s Tigress by the Hollywood China Arcade and dance along the Minions on Lagoon Stage located at the Hollywood themed zoned.
You can also meet Branch from Trolls by the popcorn stand at Hollywood and move it with Alex, Gloria and King Julien from Madagascar in New York.
Universal Studios Singapore’s lovebirds Winnie and Woody Woodpecker are also free for photo taking by the streets of New York near KT Grill Restaurant (if they’re not too busy romancing each other that is). Head over to Sci-Fi City and catch Optimus Prime and Megatron giving you well wishes in Mandarin too. Who knew they were bilingual?
This Lunar New Year, Universal Studios Singapore is also bringing back Rhythm Truck 2.0. A dancing crew that will wow you with their sick moves and back flips. Rhythm Truck 2.0 was momentarily put on pause during the pandemic so their return brings more cheer, fun and excitement this festive season.
Hungry? Then pop into a restaurant or two and try out the specially-themed menu! Lucky Wings and Pineapple Fried Rice is a hearty and filling dish that serves you golden yellow pineapple rice and salted egg wings on the side. Golden Coin Pizza, on the other hand, is a generous slice of pizza with abalone, crabmeat bites, tiger prawns and chicken floss, all drizzled in sweet & sour sauce. The cutest, of course, is Bountiful Bunny – a fluffy giant steamed bun stuffed with honey chicken char siew.
Visit on the weekends (21-24 Jan, 27 – 29 Jan and 3-5 Feb) and you will find yourself awestruck by yet another colourful and eclectic performance – Lo Hei with The Stars and Dance of the Dragon. This night segment at 8pm sees Elmo, Abby Cadabby, Oscar the Grouch and Cookie Monster learn the meaning behind Lo Hei and create the perfect Yusheng dish.
The segment also sees beautiful dancers with flowy skirts and giant fans before welcoming the Spirit Dragon to the stage to mesmerise viewers and bless them with good luck and blessings.
Entry to Universal Studios Singapore’s Lunar New Year celebration is included with paid park admission from S$58 for adult Singapore residents and S$61 for adult non-residents.
